Wendy and Piper

"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

-Virginia Wolfe

"The Girls," Wendy Woods and Piper Lunsford, opened their first restaurant together eight years ago in the Research Triangle Park area. That venture continues to be an amazing success and if you haven't been, you can take a sneak peak at this hyperlink: http://www.pipersinthepark.com/.

Several years ago, The Girls began discussing opening their second restaurant in Durham. They both love the restaurant business, and have been involved with various food and beverage adventures for more than 30 years. Those previous experiences gave them a vision of what they wanted their next restaurant to be.

They imagined a place overflowing with friends, old and new, noshing in a brightly colored corner bistro. They wanted a place to be closer to the central part of Durham so they could be more involved in the community. And as had happened in the past, The Girls believed that if they produced eclectic food with great tasting ingredients and generous portions, good news about their new restaurant would spread and customers would support their endeavor.

The evolution of that vision is Nosh. Nosh is dream come true for Wendy and Piper. It is important to them to be known for serving handmade, creative food that satisfied the wide range of their customers' appetites. The menu offers multiple choices for the vegetarian who loves huge salads, hand rolled pizzas and abundant veggie sandwiches for the college crowd while not forgetting those meat eaters who crave the thick cheeseburgers, buttermilk breaded chicken and fresh tuna salad sandwiches served on sundried tomato bread.

The regular menu features a huge variety, but The Girls also take a lot of pride in their delectable daily specials like lump crab cakes, spicy hand rolled empanadas, chicken pesto sandwich with goat cheese and grilled southwestern chicken with mango salsa. Specials change daily depending on what is fresh in the market and what inspirations feel right.

NOSH is a place where everyone feels welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed whether you are meeting business colleagues, dining alone while using the free wi-fi services or sitting on the outdoor patio under shady umbrellas with the whole family. Kids really enjoy meeting Oscar, our mascot, and getting in a quick game of Connect Four before dinner.

Even Rover loves NOSH! If your pet happens to be with you when you stop in to dine al fresco, the server will make sure a water bowl comes to the table. "Hey! Rover is thirsty too…and that chicken you're eating looks yummy…!"

Nosh has many customers that that visit daily and a large number that come every week. Wendy loves to stop by the table and chat when she is not rushing around making sure all the myriad details of making a restaurant hum are complete. She often can be seen laughing at a joke one her regulars has just whispered to her - when Wendy laughs, everyone knows it!

And, Piper is always in residence on Sundays to greet the brunch crowd. Come in for breakfast or brunch and try the wide assortment of smoothies like the School Bus Breakfast smoothie: strawberries, bananas, honey and vanilla yogurt. You can even add protein powder, syrups or espresso to make your smoothie just the way you like it.

Wendy and Piper wish to express their gratitude for the incredible support they have received from the community to make their first year such a great success. They recently threw a one-year anniversary party and treated guests to a buffet of free food, live music and even had a wandering caricature artist to draw pictures of customers. When you visit, make sure to preview the hilarious collection of caricatures and see who you might recognize. Wendy and Piper love being in the restaurant business. They pride themselves on creating a quality product, at a reasonable price with quick, friendly customer service. Please come by, say hello and "nosh at NOSH."
