Good Owners
Great fresh food, great place.... and to ensure great service, good management. Great service comes when employees do their jobs to the high standards set by the establishment. Some employees get lazy, not performing up to these standards, and thinking about themselves first (tips, what they are doing after work, their boyfriends, etc.) and the customer/ establishment second. After repeated correction of an employee in an attempt to ensure good service, an owner may have to kick a little backside on occassion. Yes, it's unfortunate, but it's true. Never seen it, but sure could understand it. Thanks, Nosh for continually producing great food and service with sometimes less than a perfect workforce.
One of my new favorites
Fun place that is very kid friendly. My kids head straight to the tables with the shelf of games behind them. The kids play games, cards, or read books until the food arrives. We have been there several times since we found out about NOSH. Each time the service has been GREAT. Everyone there is so friendly. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is GREAT - very fresh and flavorful. Great place for a quick and inexpensive breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you haven't tried NOSH yet, you really need to. It just may become one of your new favorites too!
Best Food, Best Service Hands Down !!
I HAVE EATTEN HERE AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND EVERY TIME THE FOOD IS CONSISTANTLY GREAT AS IS THE SERVICE! YOU CAN TELL THAT THE OWNER TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN PUTTING THE CUSTOMER FIRST AND THAT THEY ARE 100 % SATISFIED!! ...NOSH ROCKS !
Quirky and unexpected. Great food!
Was taken to Nosh by some friends and honestly never would've known about it or been in its part of town had it not been for them. Well I'll be going back because the FOOD is really good. The atmosphere is what I'd call funky and sort of Birkenstock student-style if that makes sense. There's some vegetarian stuff and a lot of animal-lover themes which is all good. You go to the counter, place your order, take a number and they bring it to your table. Speaking of tables, this is the weakest link of the place. VERY uncomfortable to me. Some of the benches are actually SKIS that have been fused together! Despite this, the food seemed very fresh and of a high caliber. The HAMBURGERS are EXCELLENT. Perhaps a little fancier than a greasy spoon or Cook-Out kind of place but the meat is thick and truly charbroiled. The flavor and texture makes me think they must be using the highest quality Angus style. Even a burger purist who doesn't like things fancified would probably love the NOSH burgers. Also had some good appetizers that were sort of unique, a cracker style offering with some tasty dips. The soup I had, and another that my companion ordered was quite good. Mine was tomato basil and very delicious. They also have some good bottled beers. Didn't try the dessert items. Friend says the milkshakes are excellent. They also had wi-fi which makes sense being basically on campus at Duke. Overall a really nice experience and a surprise. Friendly staff. Will be going back.
Very fresh! Great flavors!
I've been to Nosh a couple times now. I am a vegetarian, and their menu seems mediocre to me initially. Now that I've been there a couple of times, I've realized they are willing to work with you on their menu to eliminate things that you don't want (meat) and add things that you do want (veggies). They don't necessarily have a heavy hitting protein item for a vegetarian, but it is definitely fresh and delicious. It's not a "nice" restaurant. It's a get in and get your quick lunch food type place. Their service is quick, helpful and friendly. Their sweet tea is delicious, and every vegetable item tastes freshly prepared and wonderful. Even the picky eaters in my office can find something tasty to nosh on.
Hand-Made Crackers Make Me Go Back
I love a place that works really hard to please the customer. When I go out, I want to feel like my money has been well spent, that I am well fed and relaxed when I leave. I have been eating at Nosh since they first opened and everything I have had there has been carefully prepared and very fresh. I love the buttery crackers they serve. They are hand-made ! My kids really love eating here too. The kids food is real, not the usual chicken fingers stuff. The soups change daily and have always been filling and tasty. I love the butternut bacon squash soup. I'm not much of a sweet eater, but the red velvet cupcakes get a big thumbs up from my husband. This is a good place to stop for dinner on the way home when I really don't feel like cooking. All of my picky family likes eating here. We will be back.
Favorite lunch spot
Tucked away of Erwin road near Duke Campus, this little gem is the perfect lunch spot. Creative bistro type food. Great hot sandwiches, daily soups, curried cous cous, flat bread pizzas, and home-made cupcakes. Always good. Cheap food. Fun cute atmosphere. Fast service. Perfect!
A low-keyed, small gem
A new low-keyed neighborhood restaurant with very well prepared and delicious soups, salads, an array of classic and unusual sandwiches as well as a daily special. Their pizza is one of the best in the Triangle. Attentive but not hovering service. For the high quality of the cuisine, the prices are more than reasonable. Well worth finding it for relaxed, informal dining. Highly recommended.
Creative fresh food
Nosh is a great new addition to the Duke area. The breakfast biscuits (Barb's biscuits) with scrambled eggs are addictive and perfect everytime. There are lots of creative options for lunch/dinner and all ingredients taste very fresh. The pizzas are great, and the sandwiches are well above average. Try the cupcakes and other desserts; they are also delicious! It is a little hard to find (by Quizno's, on the back side of the building Chai's is in).
